Adventure Sailing
The Adventure Sailing Program offers a unique lesson experience focused on the value of seamanship and sailing as a lifelong activity. Open to a variety of ages, this program allows sailors to create their own curriculums based on their shared interests and group goals. Adventure Sailing is ideal for sailors with limited to intermediate sailing experience who prefer a more flexible schedule or do not wish to participate in CANSail levels. The majority of teaching will take place on a Shark keelboat with opportunities to try kayaks, paddle boards, and dinghies when available. The Adventure Sailing program is not part of the CANSail curriculum and sailors in this program will not be working towards any CANSail level. However, this course is still instructed by a certified CANSail coach and many of the skills they develop during the session are applicable to the CANSail checklist should they choose to enter a 420 Program afterwards.

420 CANSail 1
This is an introductory program that teaches the basics of sailing in a fun and safe environment. Based on Sail Canada’s CANSail curriculum, sailors will learn the fundamental skills of boat-handling, seamanship, and sailing theory while working towards their CANSail 1 level. Coaches use a variety of interactive activities and games to deliver lessons and focus on getting sailors on-water as much as possible to develop confidence quickly. Sailors in this program will participate in exciting KYC traditions such as trips to Cedar Island and White Mountain Ice-Cream.

420 CANSail 2
The 420 CANSail 2 program expands on the fundamental skills introduced in CANSail 1 and continues to build sailors’ competence and confidence in boat-handling, seamanship, and sailing theory. Based on the CANSail curriculum sailors will work towards their CANSail 2 level, and will learn more about the wind and water they are sailing in and the land they are sailing around. Sailors in this program will participate in exciting KYC traditions such as trips to Cedar Island and White Mountain Ice-Cream.

Requirements: Successful completion of the CANSail 1 program including CANSail 1 achievement.

420 CANSail 3
The CANSail 3 program builds on sailors’ existing skills in all types of conditions to reach a tactical level of proficiency. Sailors will be taught the fundamentals of racing, including racing rules and starts, and will be given the opportunity to participate in the KYC-run Bronze Regattas. Sailors in this program will continue to participate in exciting KYC traditions such as trips to Cedar Island and White Mountain Ice-Cream. Based on the CANSail curriculum, sailors will work to achieve their CANSail 3 level. Due to the difficult course content, the CANSail 3 level requires a minimum of 4 weeks to complete. Sailors may choose between taking a 4-week session or multiple 2-week sessions (Part A and B).

Requirements:Successful completion of the Basic CANSail 2 program including CANSail 2 level achievement.
Notes:.Sailors will be working on their level checklist but there is no guarantee that they will achieve their level at the end of the session. Sailors likely need to take multiple "Part A" sections and multiple "Part B" sections before they are ready to progress to CANSail 4. Part A (the first two weeks of the month) and Part B (the last two weeks of the month) of Intermediate are offered in sequence, however every session is different and curriculum is often delivered in different orders.

CANSail 4
In CANSail 4, sailors will learn about advanced concepts of racing, are introduced to trapeze and spinnaker, and will continue to refine their skills in varying wind conditions. CANSail 4 may occasionally train with the 420 Learn to Race Team during larger drills or practice races, and will be given the opportunity to participate in the KYC-run Bronze Regattas. Sailors in this program will continue to participate in exciting KYC traditions such as trips to Cedar Island and White Mountain Ice-Cream. Based on the CANSail curriculum, sailors will work to achieve their CANSail 4 level. /p>

Membership Credit Book:
Full Family members will receive a credit book equal to 15% of paid program fees, which can be used for Food & Beverage, Regalia, and Gas Dock purchases. This replaces the previous membership discount.
