Introduction to Dinghy Sailing:

Tuesday evenings

New to sailing and want to know what it’s all about? Give it a try out on the water! Join KYC’s Introduction to Dinghy Sailing to learn skills that can be a foundation to life long sailing in a Club 420 dinghy this summer.

This weekly program occurs from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday evenings. Rigging and a briefing will commence at 5:30pm followed by two hours of sailing and coaching on the water. Throughout the five week program, we will cover basic foundational skills of sailing, including and downwind maneuvers, and the fundamentals of trimming, steering, and balance. We will conclude after derigging with a debrief inside.

Equipment: 

  • Closed toed running shoes
  • Sun protection 
  • Athletic and water resistant clothing
  • Personal PFD (if desired). PFD's are available to participants who do not own their own.
Program Length: Once per week for five weeks.
Cost: $ 400.00 + HST (Members will receive a credit book equal to 15% of paid program fees, which can be used for Food & Beverage, Regalia, and Gas Dock purchases.)

Schedule: Thursday evenings from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM

Requirements: No previous sailing experience required. Transport Canada Approved lifejacket provided.

Women's Dinghy Sailing: 

Monday evenings

Learn principal skills that can be a foundation to life long sailing in an all female particpant setting. This weekly program occurs from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday evenings. Rigging and a briefing will commence at 5:30 PM followed by two hours of sailing and coaching on the water. Throughout the five week program, we will cover basic foundational skills of sailing, including upwind and downwind maneuvers, and the fundamentals of trimming, steering, and balance.

Equipment: 

  • Closed toed running shoes
  • Sun protection 
  • Athletic and water resistant clothing
  • Personal PFD (if desired). PFD's are available to participants who do not own their own.
Program Length: Once per week for five weeks.

Keelboat Sailing

Introduction to Keelboat Sailing: 

Wednesday evenings

Learn foundational keelboat skills to life long sailing. This weekly program occurs from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday evenings. Rigging and a briefing will commence at 5:30 PM followed by two hours of sailing and coaching on the water. Throughout the five week program, we will cover basic foundational skills of sailing, including upwind and downwind maneuvers, and the fundamentals of trimming, steering, balance, and communication amongst crew.

Equipment: 

  • Closed toed running shoes
  • Sun protection 
  • Athletic and water resistant clothing
  • Personal PFD (if desired). PFD's are available to participants who do not own their own.
Program Length: Once per week for five weeks.
Cost: $ 400.00 + HST (Members will receive a credit book equal to 15% of paid program fees, which can be used for Food & Beverage, Regalia, and Gas Dock purchases.)

Schedule: Wednesdays from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

Requirements: No previous sailing experience required. Transport Canada Approved lifejacket provided.

Private Sessions: 

Looking for a more personalized experience? Do none of the other Adult sessions fit your schedule? Do you have a team of colleagues, or group of friends looking for a fun summer excursion on the water? Our weekend private sessions are perfect for your individual needs! One private session booking entitles you and your friends to a personal coach for three hours on an assortment of keelboats or dinghies. Private sessions are offered on Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer, with flexible scheduling. Come out and experience the quiet rush of sailing, and join us at the waterfront patio afterwards for food and drink!

Equipment: 

  • Closed toed running shoes
  • Sun protection 
  • Athletic and water resistant clothing
  • Personal PFD (if desired). PFD's are available to participants who do not own their own.
Program Length: 3 Hours
Cost: $ 200.00 + HST (Members will receive a credit book equal to 15% of paid program fees, which can be used for Food & Beverage, Regalia, and Gas Dock purchases.)

Requirements: A basic understanding of sailing knowledge includng steering, sheeting (sail trim) and boat balance. Transport Canada Approved lifejacket provided as needed.
